How Internet Referee works
“The Parents’ Guide to the Information Superhighway: Rules and Tools for Families Online,” written by Wendy Lazarus and Laurie Lipper, provides valuable information for parents. The most important point the authors make is that, regardless of the child’s age, parents should “monitor, monitor, monitor.” Internet Referee is a tool designed to help you monitor your children’s computer use. Of course, this powerful tool does not replace being a parent. Its job is to act as a referee watching your children’s activity so you don’t have to spend time looking over their shoulders. Important ways Internet Referee can help you. Internet Referee . . .
At the first sign of unusual activity Internet Referee
Internet Referee is a useful tool for the home, public kiosks, and businesses. In addition to its monitoring function, the blocking feature may be turned on to allow the blocking of all inappropriate sites, or to limit a user’s time online. Internet Referee works in one of two modes. In the free mode all activity is recorded and if predefined inappropriate activity is detected, a referee whistle will appear in the system tray. A parent may click on the icon and see all activity for that day. They can then take appropriate action if necessary. NOTE: The data is stored for a full day so that parents may look at the report when they get home from work. In the purchased mode the parent has the option to set program time-limits, block inappropriate programs or content, look at past day reports and set password protection on Internet Referee. They may also receive email notification reports as well as pictures of the offending screen. To install Internet Referee go to the Download screen and press the Download button. It’s as easy as that! |
