Important resources you should know about
If you or your child is in immediate danger, you should call your local police department by dialing 911 (in most areas). Parents need to understand how the Internet and the home computer are used and what rules and behavior parents need to enforce. A FREE guide and reference material is available for parents. It’s titled “The Parents' Guide To The Information Superhighway: Rules And Tools For Families Online, By Wendy Lazarus and Laurie Lipper. You can download it right now at no cost. Parents have another great resource. They can easily pick a search engine ( For example: http:google.com, http:yahoo.com, http:msn.com, http:wisenut.com) and enter a few of these keywords: “internet basics for parents,” “protecting internet teens,” or “children protection.” The search engine will provide you with a great deal of wonderful, practical information. If you would like to learn how to report cases of exploitation, or want in-depth information on online sexual exploitation, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has an excellent site at: http://www.missingkids.com/cybertip/. If you want to get information for your teenager about how to protect themselves online, or get training information, an excellent site is: http://www.netsmartz.org/ |
